Porsche’s very expansive (and expensive) Panamera Exclusive series

Panamera Exclusive series by Porsche — only 100 vehicles to be made.

  • Is it worth the money?
  • Are Porsche enthusiasts going to want to own this vehicle?

“In my opinion . . .”

I saw this car at the LA Auto Show. Yikes—it’s HUGE. Believing personally, that Porsche should only come with two doors, it’s not my cup of tea, but I must admit it’s an impressive car. Very impressive. The fit and finish is exquisite.

Porsche918

Porsche 918 Spyder, MSRP $845,000

Porsche’s Panamera Exclusive is going to be one of the most expensive four-doors on the market. It will also be the most expensive and exclusive Porsche model offered, with the exception of the 918 Spyder.

Do I think it’s worth the money? Yes, of course. Every cent. All models Porsche currently offers are outstanding vehicles, and this model will be exceptional at taking four adults in high comfort, at high velocity, across the countryside or across the desert.

This is obviously a car for those which cost of acquisition is no an issue. With only one-hundred being built, there will be few chances of meeting another when arriving at the InterContinental Hotel in London or Hong Kong.

Is it a car for Porsche enthusiasts? Well, not in the classic sense. An enthusiast is defined by Merriam-Webster as “one who is ardently attached to a cause, object, or pursuit e.g., ‘a sports car enthusiast’ and, one who tends to become ardently absorbed in an interest.”

Classic Porsche enthusiasts (of which I am one) are those who restore, repair, collect, upgrade and otherwise cherish their two-door Porsche sports cars—not that there aren’t some out there who are passionate about their Panamera, Cayenne or Macan. Porsche enthusiasts are known for displaying their cars at gatherings, sharing tips and stories with other Porsche owners, driving them on twisty roads with alacrity, and even running them at the weekend on a closed road course or race track . . . and I don’t envision those types of enthusiasts dreaming of owning an extra long, extra expensive Panamera Exclusive.

Suggested retail? The price tag for the vehicle is around $264,000. If I had to choose between this and a well-optioned Mercedes-Maybach S600, I’d go with the Exclusive . . . I am a Porsche guy after all, even though the Panamera has four doors.
